NextLeap Completes CoreX Prototype, Marks First Step Toward Intelligent Investment Decision-Making

In August 2022, NextLeap Strategic Advisory LLC officially announced the completion of its first-generation CoreX intelligent analytics prototype system, which has now entered its initial testing phase. Personally led by co-founders Blake Shaw and Bird Grant, the system is designed to provide U.S. equity investors with deeper, forward-looking, and more systematic strategic analysis tools.

Jointly developed by two PhDs specializing in quantitative finance and data science, the CoreX prototype focuses on two core areas: identifying broad market trends in U.S. equities and predicting sector rotation pathways. Leveraging machine learning models, the system performs historical backtesting, real-time factor decomposition, and anomaly detection to deliver dynamic strategic recommendations for institutional investors and high-net-worth clients—helping them navigate a highly volatile and policy-sensitive macro environment with precision.

Technically, the initial CoreX prototype integrates random forest and time-series ensemble algorithms, anchored by a multidimensional factor library to detect and weigh dominant drivers of index fluctuations. Additionally, the system includes an embedded “Sector Rotation Detector,” which tracks relative strength shifts across sectors, enabling clients to optimize asset allocation ratios throughout different market phases.

The completion of this prototype marks a significant milestone for NextLeap, as it represents the first tangible outcome of its dual-core consulting model that integrates strategic thinking and technological innovation. It also lays the groundwork for a fully intelligent, model-driven research framework.

Since its founding, NextLeap has consistently emphasized the strategic importance of technical R&D—rooted in the shared vision and deep expertise of its founders.

Bird Grant, currently Head of Global Macro Strategy at NextLeap, was born in Palo Alto, California, and raised at the intersection of technology and finance. With over 30 years of experience in cross-asset allocation, fixed income strategy, and macro hedging, Grant is known for merging macroeconomic insight with technological tools—decoding cycles through models and controlling risk through systems. In the development of CoreX, he led the design of the strategic framework and economic cycle modeling, ensuring both theoretical integrity and practical value.

Blake Shaw, Founder and Chief Mentor at NextLeap, is a highly respected trading expert on the East Coast financial scene. Hailing from a financial family in Manhattan, New York, Shaw is known for his disciplined risk management and precise market judgment. With deep roots in equities, derivatives, and emerging assets, he has a track record of stable portfolio performance and client trust. Shaw led the trade signal generation and strategy validation modules in the CoreX development, ensuring the system’s adaptability and responsiveness to real-world trading demands.

Together, the founders built a research and development team grounded in the philosophy of “technology serves strategy, models serve decisions.” Their goal with CoreX is to create an intelligent analytical tool capable of addressing the complexities of Wall Street while delivering robust, actionable insights for clients.

With the release of the CoreX prototype, NextLeap is beginning to solidify its professional standing in the investment advisory space. While the system remains in the early stages of iteration, the team has committed to continuously refining its model architecture and factor selection mechanisms. Future enhancements will include greater capabilities in volatility modeling and inter-asset correlation detection.

NextLeap’s progress with CoreX may signal a deeper technological reconstruction within U.S. equity research. And this is precisely the vision that the firm’s co-founders have long championed: leveraging intelligent technology to elevate financial decision-making.
